Setting the Sales stage

March 25, 2008

Well here it is March 25th, 2008.  Where am I? Well, I am about a year and three months into a move to a new city.  I have been struggling to get my start-up business going, and since I have been extremely broke for the last few years, I am now over $75,000 in credit card debt. YAY. Oh yeah, and I am about 20 pounds overweight.

Sounds pretty grim. Actually I have somehow managed to be OK with my situation. Things could be worse. Instead I believe I can dig myself out of the holes I have gotten into.  I have decided to start an independent sales job in order to get out of debt, and build a residual income for the future. I have been studying the world of sales and my goals and ideas seem to be possible. Possible if you put in the work.

So tomorrow is my first day starting this new sales experience. I am nervous and scared. I am sort of at a do or die situation. I figure I need to make about $6,000 per month to stay afloat. If I want to actually pay down my debt in a couple years I will need to make about $8,500 per month, or over $100,000 per year.

Lots of people make $100K per year….yeah. I never have, but I have myself in this predicament. I am going to have to become the cold calling KING!  I hate cold calling, but I am just going to have to get over myself and bite the bullet and make this thing happen.

On top of starting a new job, I am going to also start losing 20 pounds of fat.  So I figure why not change jobs, and lifestyle all at the same time. Make a new me.
